As a non-profit organization, Munson Healthcare reinvests all of its revenue into expanding and upgrading health care facilities in northern Michigan. In addition, the community has historically responded generously to requests to help fund large facility projects vital to providing for the health and safety of the region’s residents and visitors.
A recent project advanced Munson Healthcare’s goal of improving patient satisfaction by providing facilities that offer timely service in comfortable, private, state-of-the-art settings.
Smith Family Breast Health Center
Munson's new Breast Health Center is the first comprehensive breast center north of Grand Rapids. The Center offers mammography screening, diagnostic testing, support, and education. An 8,100 square foot facility, located at Copper Ridge, opened on February 14, 2008.
Munson Medical Center Emergency Department
In January 2007, a new Emergency Department became a reality thanks in part to $10 million in community support, including $2 million from the Munson family of physicians, employees, volunteers, and board members. The Emergency Department includes private exam rooms and multi-bed trauma bays designed to maximize patient care, safety, and comfort.
Patient satisfaction skyrocketed following the opening of the new department. Its "Journey to Excellence" project focused on customer service continues.
